Puppy Groom
Get your puppy off to a good start by introducing him/her to grooming at an early age. This service will allow your new family member to become familiar with the sights, sounds and the routine of the grooming process.

  1. Brushing and combing
  2. Ear Cleaning
  3. Bathing with Special Puppy Shampoo
  4. Drying
  5. Nail Clipping
  6. Lots of play, love and attention.

Introduction to the Puppy Groom is recommended after the primary course of vaccinations is complete (10-12 weeks) and is available for dogs up to 6 months old.
Please take veterinary advice as to how soon after the final vaccination you are able to introduce your puppy to the big wide world.
De-matting
De-matting involves the complete removal of mats (where possible). The groomer will work on each individual mat until the coat is mat free. This is achieved by using specialised products and equipment, followed by extensive brushing and combing.
The removal of serious coat matting is a lengthy and particularly skilled process, therefore, this service is charged for by the hour in addition to the price of a full groom. If we feel that de-matting the coat will cause discomfort or distress to your dog we may advise that the coat be clipped off. We will assess each dog individually and advise accordingly.
We will NEVER clip a coat off without first gaining permission from the owner.
Hand Stripping
This is a process where dead hair is removed from the coat by hand. Most coats have two types of hair – soft hair and harsh longer ‘guard hairs’. The guard hairs die and shed every 6 months; this is when they need to be removed. Once the dead hair is plucked, a more even coloured and even textured coat is revealed.
Many breeds need to have their coats stripped as part of a regular grooming routine. Hand stripping gives the coat a more traditional appearance retaining the natural texture and colour (which can be affected by clipping).
This is a lengthy and labour intensive process, which is why the cost is more than that of a full groom.
Nail Clipping
Although nail clipping is included with our other services, we also offer it as a stand-alone service.
Keeping the hair trimmed between and around pads ensures comfort for your dog, preventing the accumulation of dirt and debris, thus the potential for infection. We offer this as an optional service with nail clipping, for a small additional charge.

Important Information:

The example prices above are based on dogs which attend our salon every 6, 8 or 12 weeks in accordance with grooming requirements for breed and coat type and we recommend that they be groomed at home in-between their professional appointments. Dogs that have significant coat growth and are matted or extremely dirty are most welcome however; there may be an additional charge to cover the extra grooming time and products that will be required. We will of course, discuss this with you at the time of booking or when you come for your appointment.
We request that where possible 48 hours notice is given for cancellation of appointments; please allow us the time to fill your appointment slot. Failure to inform us of cancellations results in wasted time for the groomer, loss of revenue for the business and increased waiting time for other clients.

We will always aim to achieve the style that a customer asks for. However, grooming terms are very specific and if you are at all unsure of how to describe the style you want, please ask the Groomer for advice.

About Us
Our professionally trained and qualified Groomers are ready to discuss your requirements and how best they can be achieved, feel free to phone or call into the salon – we are here to help.
At Doggy & Gabbona, it is our aim to ensure that every client enjoys a relaxed and stress free visit. If your dog is anxious, nervous, fearful, elderly or infirmed, we will modify our grooming techniques to cater for their special requirements. We achieve this by treating every dog as the individual that they are, taking the extra time necessary to make their time with us as enjoyable as possible. We treat your pets with as much respect, love and care as we treat our own.
Working in conjunction with the Animal Welfare Act, your pet’s wellbeing will be paramount at all times.
We ask that you inform us of any occasion where your dog has bitten or attempted to bite during previous grooming sessions. This does not mean that we will refuse to groom your pet, but it allows us to take the necessary precautions and use the correct measures with regard to safety, handling and calming.
Julie Jackson-Corney the proprietor of Doggy & Gabbona is herself a qualified groomer and holds qualifications in Canine Health Care, Canine Care and Management, Canine Anatomy and Physiology and Canine First Aid. Julie is an Associate member of the Animal Care College, a member of the British Groomers Association and the Pet Care Trade Association (Pet Care Trust) and will always put the welfare of animals first.

Our Facilities
Our bathing area is designed to cater for all sizes from toy breeds to giants. Our walk in bath and shower minimises lifting and moving from one area to another which makes it ideal for elderly and infirmed dogs.
All our clients are hand dried with professional grooming dryers/blasters. As one of the quietest dryers on the market and having variable drying speeds, they are ideal for small and nervous dogs.
At Doggy & Gabbona we do not use drying cabinets.
